Souvenier de la Malmaison is a fabulous rose. If you grow no other old rose, you must grow this one. The light, soft pink blooms exude a fragrance that can only be compared to a fine parisian perfume. The fairly large three inch double, double blooms at times completely cover the rather small, compact shrub that rarely grows over three feet high and wide. Introduced into commerce in 1843, it was given its present name when one of the Grand Dukes of Russia requested a specimen of this rose from the gardens at Malmaison. This is a wonderful container rose for a balcony or patio. In the landscape, make sure that you plant it in front and center so that you can enjoy its beauty!
